**Kalyansinghpur: ** The Maoists have released posters and banners in various places of Kalyansinghpur area in Rayagada district relaying their message to the local people not to participate in the upcoming three-tier panchayat polls in any manner.
These banners and posters were found at various places in Sikarpal area in the district on Saturday. They mentioned the names of CPI(M) secretaries Das Brahma and Umakanta Mishra.
The main intention of these posters is to foil the panchayat poll process slated to be held in the second week of February in the State and the posters have asked the locals to boycott these polls, warning them of dire consequences if anybody dared to participate.
Earlier, such posters were found in cut-off areas of Malkangiri and some places of Koraput. Stray incidents of killing nominees who filed their nominations were also reported from the cut-off areas.
Despite the ‘death threat’ issued by the Maoists and even the reported kidnapping and release of the poll officials after diktats to boycott the three-tier Panchayat polls in the naxal-affected tribal-dominated district here, the villagers in the cut-off area preferred ballot over bullet and filed nominations.
