Bhubaneswar: All out efforts are on by the Odisha Government as it is going to add yet another feather to its cap by creating record in the State itself as well as ranking top in the entire country relating to the PMGSY execution.
This was revealed at the State Level Sanctioning Committee meeting on Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) held at the State Secretariat here chaired by the Chief Secretary.
Briefing media after the meeting, Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said, “The meeting of State Level Sanctioning Committee on Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was held today.”
“This fiscal year (2017-18) we have targeted to complete about 7,000 km of road under the PMGSY. It would be a record for both Odisha and entire country. For Odisha, it is the highest as previously we had completed 4.500 km long road in a year,” he stated.
He added, “For next year (2018-19), we have a programme of 13,000 km. It is also across the State. PMGSY programme is undertaken under 60:40 funding shared by the Centre and State.”
He also informed, “At today’s meeting, we reviewed the left out work targeted for this fiscal year. Next fiscal year’s programme was approved today. It’s to be sent to the Government of India for due seal of approval.”
On being further queried by media, he informed, “Out of the targeted 7,000 km to be completed this year, 3,600 km has already been executed. As the rest is at last stage, we will be completing it in the next three months.”
The Odisha Chief Secretary further told media, “No 2 State in this regard is Madhya Pradesh.”
