Accused Killed Hotelier After Fired From Job

Puri: In a major breakthrough, Puri police has arrested three persons in connection with the murder of advocate and Sai Kutir Lodge owner Chandan Behera on January 8 evening.
The three were arrested late night on Tuesday, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi confirmed. Addressing a news conference on Wednesday here, the SP told reporters that the arrests were made after raids at different places in the pilgrim town.
The accused were identified as Kapilash Bhoi (Kapila), Basudev Bhatt (Kapila), Brajakishore Bhoi (Baraju), police said.
“We have arrested three main accused in connection with the brutal murder of Chandan Behera on January 8 and all the three have confessed to their crime. Prima facie, it is a property related murder, but we are still interrogating to know more about the gruesome incident,” said Sarangi.
The SP also informed that after Behera fired all the three from the job, the accused got angry and in a fit of rage they conspired to kill the hotelier.
The three accused, according to police, do not have any past criminal records and were arrested from the house of Prafulla Behera at Padmapur village in the district.
Notably on January 8 evening, Chandan Behera was attacked by two armed miscreants near Sai Kutir Lodge gate while entering the lodge premises along with a friend, Krushna Chandra Pradhan, on a Scooty.
The two miscreants hacked Behera’s neck and hand with sharp weapons leading to his death on the spot while his friend sustained severe injuries.
