Bhubaneswar: Registration for vaccination of children in the age group of 15-18 years against Covid-19 has begun today, informed Family Welfare Director and State Nodal Officer for Immunization Dr Bijay Panigrahi.
“Children falling in the age group between 15 and 18 years can log on to Co-WIN, get an OTP (One Time Password) by providing his/her mobile phone number and by using the OTP book a slot to receive the vaccine dose from January 3 onwards,” explained Dr Panigrahi.
The State Nodal Officer for Immunization further informed that presently, there are 2,600 CVCs (Covid Vaccination Centres) in the State and a few out them will be dedicated exclusively for adolescents.
But adolescents can be also administered vaccine in all other CVCs in a specified time slot, he added.
Dr Panigrahi said that adolescents can also visit the CVCs and go for on-site spot booking and get vaccine shots.
All those whose birth year is 2007 or before are eligible to register themselves on Co-WIN.
“Presently, we have a stock of 15 lakh doses of Covaxin in the State. The Central government has promised to provide sufficient stock of Covaxin,” Dr Panigrahi said.
As of now, over 45,000 adolescents have registered on Co-Win portal for vaccination, he added.
The State Nodal Officer for Immunization stated that out of the 3.25 crore individuals above 18 years of age in the State 90% have been vaccinated with the first dose and it is targeted to vaccinate all with the first dose by January 15.
As much as 64% have been administered with the second dose of the vaccine, he added.
