Malkangiri: Forest Department personnel have been engaged in a rigorous exercise since Wednesday morning to rescue a wild bear which has climbed up a tree. The incident has been reported from MV 20 village under Gorakhunta panchayat here.
According to reports, the bear had come into the village in search of food but was unable to return into the woods. Rather it scaled a tree out of fear of the villagers. Sources said, the bear has been hit by an arrow and is hurt.
The area is frequented by bears and many have strayed into the villages. The rescue operation was on with forest staff restricting movement of locals in the area.
