Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the Biju Patnaik Industrial Training Institute at Krushnaprasad block in Puri district. The ITI has been built at a cost of Rs 18 crore and has facilities for training students in Electrician, Fitter, Electronics Mechanic and Dress Making trades.
In the near future, more disciplines will be added at this institute which has modern laboratory, workshops, and hostels. The state needs to prosper in terms of industrialisation and needs more skilled manpower for this, said CM on the occasion. The Skilled in Odisha programme is working in mission mode to generate skilled human resources.
There are 12,000 ITIs in the country, and out of the 100 top ITIs, 10 institutes are in Odisha. “Our students have brought laurels for the state and I hope they will continue to make Odisha proud in the future,” Naveen said.
On the occasion, Planning Board Deputy Chairman Sanjay Dasburma said, Krushnaprasad comprises of 14 panchayats and being surrounded by lies between the Chilika lake and Bay of Bengal water accessibility has been a problem. With the establishment of an ITI here, the local youths will be immensely benifitted.
Speaking at the event, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian said the Chief Minister has always highlighted the importance of green campus. “So, aim at planting more and more trees in the ITI campus,” said Pandian who coordinated the event. Among others, Puri Collector Samarth Verma and Secretary of Skill Development and Technical Education Department spoke on the occasion.
