Bhubaneswar: More than 3.42 lakh children in the age group between 15 and 18 years have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the State. At present, vaccination is being held at 3,453 centres out of which 1,191 are dedicated for eligible teenagers, said Health and Family Welfare Director, Dr Bijay Panigrahi.
In Odisha, so far, 5.16 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered. Total 91% people have received the first dose, while, 66% have been fully vaccinated for Covid, he said.
The vaccination process is on. Healthcare workers, frontline workers and people above 60 years with comorbidities, will receive the precaution dose of Covid vaccine from January 10.
Those (in the aforementioned category) who have taken both doses will be eligible for the precautionary dose. Nine months after getting the second dose, the beneficiaries will receive the precautionary dose for Covid, Dr Panigrahi added.
Those who have taken Covaxin will receive the precautionary dose of Covaxin and those who got Covishield will receive the precautionary dose of Covishield, he said. The healthcare workers who are engaged in Covid duty will be prioritised during this process.
