Berhampur: In view of the resurgence of Covid-19, all religious places/places of worship of Ganjam district will remain closed for the public with effect from 5 AM of January 9 till 5 AM of February 1.
However, religious rituals are allowed with bare minimum priests/servitors and staff adhering to Covid safety protocols.
“All religious places/places of worship of Ganjam district including the temple of Maa Tara Tarini/Maa Thakurani, Berhampur/Maa Siddha Vairabi shall remain closed for public. However, religious rituals are allowed with bare minimum priests/servitors and staff adhering to Covid safety protocols. Religious congregations are strictly prohibited,” read the order issued by the District Administration of Ganjam.
The order states that the stipulation shall be effective from 5.00 AM of January 9 till 5.00 AM of February 1.
“Any persons found violating this order shall be punished under the provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other relevant laws, the order added.
The order cites that the State is passing through a critical stage of Covid-19 pandemic due to the resurgence of Covid-19 in some parts of the State/country and district of Ganjam and it has been observed that after unrestricted religious celebrations leading to large congregations, the infection rate has loomed in some parts of the district.
