Jajpur: The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Rasulpur block in Jajpur district, Umakanta Parida is on a green mission and has been setting up gardens on the premises of offices where he has served. The initiative has been warmly received by colleagues, seniors, and local people, who said that creating gardens has been Parida’s passion and it has transformed the environment of offices.
From the begining, Parida had an affinity towards, plants and flowers. Finding time from his busy work schedule, Parida has ensured that plantation activity takes up on his office premises. The officer takes personal interest in the activity. His colleagues said, the environment around the office helps them reduce stress, and all credit goes to Parida.
Earlier, the block office premises used to be dirty and not so hospitable. People coming into the office as well as those working there were not happy with the surroundings. However, the BDO led from the front and took up the task to himself. Today, the surroundings have transformed into a green office where local people throng to take selfies.
The people of Rasulpur and even other Blocks of the district, local politicians and MLAs have congratulated and praised Parida for his efforts. There are around 2,500 plants and around 300 kinds of flowers in the office. Taking care of the plants on a daily basis along with the office work, is a ritual for this dedicated State Government official.
