Bolangir: The police have arrested a man who allegedly killed his lover in December, 2020 and had fled to another State. The man in question, was into a relation with a woman, with whom his wedlock was finalised. However, the proposed marriage could not materialise, but the closeness between the duo grew.
In December last year, the man belonging to Berhampur had come to Bhawanipatna to meet and elope with the girl. While heading on Bhawanipatna – Bongomunda route, they involved into a quarrel which intensified and later the man killed his lover, the police said.
The body of the woman was disposed in a school at Sundhimunda village under Sindhekela police limits in Bolangir district. While the schools were closed due to the pandemic, few days later, the locals complained of a bad smell from the building.
The matter was reported to Sindhikela police which retrieved the remains of the woman from the school. A case was registered in this connection and a team comprising officials off Sindhekela police, Bangamunda police and Titilagarh police started investigating.
The accused was arrested from another State. The cops were able to locate him by tracing his phone. The accused has been booked on murder charges and forwarded to the court, the police said.
