Nabarangpur: As many as 564 bags of rice meant for serving of mid-day meals (MDM) in schools were seized from an under-construction private building at Keshariguda under Nandahandi block of Nabarangpur district.
The rice bags were seized during a raid by Nabarangpur Tahasildar and police on Sunday.
“Under orders of the Collector, I accompanied by the local IIC have opened the two rooms in which the rice bags were stashed. The rooms were opened in presence of police and 564 rice bags were found. These rice bags were seized and handed over to Additional Block Education Officer (ABEO),” informed Nabarangpur Tahasildar Rabindra Rout.
Rout said that investigation is underway to find out how the rice bags reached here and who is behind it.
