Malkangiri: A boat ambulance was inaugurated by BSF DIG Sanjay Singh at Janbai village in Swabhiman Anchal region of Malkangiri district on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day on Wednesday.
It will benefit over 3000 people of 151 villages under six gram panchayats in Swabhiman Anchal, said Singh.
Notably, the people of these villages are dependent on only one Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Jodamba village. People of the remote villages surrounded by water and hills find it difficult to reach the hospital during emergencies.
The four BSF camps set up in the Swabhiman Anchal have been able to keep a check on Maoist insurgency in the region. Watching the plight of the villagers, the BSF decided to lend a helping hand through the boat ambulance.
