Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today advised the State administration to remain vigilant and continue awareness programmes while reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the State through video conferencing.
In addition to that Patnaik stressed on the administration of booster dosage to senior citizens and frontline warriors, said an official press release.
Patnaik said that while the number of active Covid cases in the State remains stagnant, there has been a reduction in new Covid cases.
There has been not much pressure on hospitals during the third wave, but this should not be point for self-satisfaction, he added.
The Chief Minister advised the administration to remain fully prepared and keep a watch over the situation. He also advised to keep the awareness programmes going with the active cooperation of Mission Shakti groups.
Patnaik further advised the police to be especially careful to ensure that people strictly follow Covid safety regulations.
He also advised the Rapid Response Teams and field workers for proper management and monitoring of health conditions of Covid patients in home isolation.
Under current circumstances, Patnaik urged the people to strictly observe Covid safety guidelines without panicking.
Development Commissioner-cum-Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena apprised the Chief Minister of the various steps taken by the administration for strict adherence to Covid guidelines.
During the meeting Additional Chief Secretary (Health) RK Sharma made a detailed presentation on the Covid situation in the State.
Sharma informed that while the daily Covid testing in the State ranged between 65,000-70,000, the positivity rate is 11.4% which is less than the national average.
Positivity rate is comparatively higher in Jajpur, Balasore, Cuttack, Sundargarh and Khordha, he added.
Sharma said that the vaccination scenario is also satisfactory in the State.
The review meeting was moderated by Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian.
In the meeting, Municipal Commissioners of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and Collectors of Khordha and Rayagada among others made presentations on the situation in their respective areas.
