Berhampur: A youth who had set himself afire in front of Golanthara Police Station in Ganjam district on Monday has succumbed to his injuries.
Reportedly, the deceased identified as Kalia Samantara of Randa village had visited the police station last night to lodge a complaint.
However, after stepping out of the police station, he set himself on fire by pouring kerosene on his body.
Cops present at the police station rescued Kalia and rushed him to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital. He had sustained around 70 percent burn injuries.
He was later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated. However, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra has assured to conduct to probe to ascertain the reason behind him taking the extreme step.
