Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members in the Rajya Sabha have raised the issue of the Centre not opening the Aawaas+ portal for the addition of 6 lakh houses of Odisha who are predominantly tribals from scheduled areas and KBK districts.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour today, BJD MPs Sasmit Patra, Amar Patnaik, and Sujeet Kumar further stated how despite Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s repeated requests, the Aawaas+ portal is not being opened while it was opened for Karnataka to add 25 lakh houses on 13th January 2022.
The BJD MPs demanded the Aawaas+ portal of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) be opened immediately so that the 6 lakh people of Western Odisha, the Scheduled areas, and KBK regions of Odisha would benefit.
Odisha Housing & Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena in a letter to Union Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh on Monday had also asked the latter to rectify this injustice being meted out to the State of Odisha and its people.
