Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) has revised the expenditure limit for candidates contesting the election to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
According to a notification by the SEC, Rs 50,000 is the maximum limit of election expenses by a candidate for Councillor/Corporator post in NAC/Municipality/Municipal Corporation having a population up to 50,000.
Similarly, Rs 75,000 for Municipalities having a population between 50,000 to 1,00,000; Rs 1 lakh for Municipalities having a population above 1 lakh; and Rs 2 lakh for Municipal Corporations.
The maximum limit of election expenses by a candidate for Chairperson/Mayor post in NAC/Municipality/Municipal Corporation having a population up to 50,000 is Rs 2 lakh.
Similarly, Rs 3 lakh for Municipalities having a population between 50,000 to 1,00,000; Rs 5 lakh for Municipalities having a population above 1 lakh; and Rs 12 lakh for Municipal Corporations.
