Bhubaneswar: In view of falling positivity and hospitalization rates vis-a-vis Covid-19, Odisha is expected to be in the comfortable zone by the end of this month, stated Director of Health Services Dr Bijay Mohapatra.
“The fast decreasing positivity rate and the drop in hospitalization rate to 8-9% from the earlier 11-12% if viewed in totality we are most likely moving towards a better situation by the end of this month,” pointed out Dr Mohapatra briefing reporters on the Covid-19 situation in the State.
The Health Services Director said that as projected on an average 15% children were affected during the third wave in the State though it had gone up to 22-23% for a brief period.
He, however, added that severity and fatality were very very less in the case of children.
” Surges and dips are the typical characteristics of a pandemic, now the surge is dipping, so if we maintain proper surveillance and Covid appropriate behaviour we will surely be able to prevent a surge,” said Dr Mohapatra giving his opinion on the possibility of a fourth wave of Covid-19.
