Bhubaneswar: Two Odisha government officials, Block Education Officer (BEO) of Nuagada block in Gajapati district Braja Kumar Nayak and a clerk of Record section of the Cuttack Collectorate Kasinath Das were caught taking bribe by Vigilance officials in two separate incidents today.
Braja Kumar Nayak, OES, Block Education Officer, Nuagada Block in Gajapati district was apprehended by Vigilance officials while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a teacher (complainant) through Dillip Kumar Swain, Accountant-Cum-Data Entry Operator, to release his (teacher’s) arrear salary. The entire bribe money has been recovered from both the accused and seized, said an official press note.
A case under 7 PC (Amendment) Act 2018 has been registered against Nayak. Investigation is in progress against Nayak and Swain, the press note added.
In a separate incident, Kasinath Das, Clerk, Record Section, Collectorate, Cuttack was apprehended by Vigilance officials while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6000 from a complainant in order to provide him the land records as per his application, the press note said.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from Das and seized, the press note added.
A case under section 7 PC Amd.Act 2018 has been registered against Das. Investigation is in progress against Das, the press note further said.
