Bhubaneswar: Additional SP Communications of Odisha Police, Trinath Mishra has been arrested by the Vigilance on charges of corruption. During the searches carried out on Tuesday, the anti-corruption agency stumbled upon assets to the tune of more than Rs 8.50 crore, Vigilance sources said.
Mishra has been booked under Sections 13(2), 13 (1)(b)/12 PC Act-1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018. A case has been registered by Cuttack Vigilance Division against Mishra and his spouse.
The Additional SP was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily. In course of the investigation, Mishra has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
Director Vigilance YK Jethwa said, Vigilance activities will be intensified in the coming days under Mo Sarkar initiative. Digital footprint is an essential tool in tracing corrupt practices today. “Total 41 cases has been registered in 2022, out of which 4 persons are Class I officers,” he added.
Vigilance SP Akshaya Mishra said, Trinath Mishra’s assets have been evaluated at Rs 8.61 crore which includes four plots and seven expensive cars. The disproportionate assets (Rs 11 crore) have been estimated at 500 per cent of his known sources of income.
