Balasore: A woman, Sushama Padhi has donated all her property in the name of charity upon her son’s death two years back. Padhi took the decision in memory of her son Diptikant, who was a dedicated social worker.
On the second death anniversary of Diptikant on February 18, Sushama pledged her body for organ donation as well as willed her property for the cause of poor and downtrodden. The family belongs to Ainri village of Anantapur panchayat under Soro block in Balasore district.
She said, “What would I do of all these, house, farmland and other household items, when I have lost my son. He lived and died for the poor people, so, it would be a befitting tribute to his soul.”
The local people of the region have praised the elderly woman for the generous step. Her brother Manoranjan informed that Sushama and Diptikant had been living with him for a long time. “My nephew was a kind soul who always served the poor. However, a cruel mishap claimed his life on February 18.”
