Bhubaneswar: JSW is committed to undertake all necessary environmental mitigation measures as per the EAC recommendations. The best Available Technology(BAT) such as zero liquid discharge (ZLD) would be deployed to have a truly Green Steel Plant at Paradip, the company said on Sunday.
“Over and above this, a hydrological study by a competent agency would be carried out at the site. We are also in discussion with some international organisations of repute for conservation of aquatic life and ecosystem at the plat site,” JSW stated.
“Sustainability is JSW’s core value and to ensure a better quality of life for the locals, we are currently in discussion with credible agencies for initiating Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). The intent is to design a bouquet of alternative livelihood solutions- both on farm and off farm for different target groups.”
EAC has deliberated on the public hearing issues and the subsequent action plan at length and has found it to be satisfactory. There were total 14 representation, and JSW has point wise responded to each n every concern raised, the company stated.
“The fencing is being executed by IDCO and so far 800 m boundary wall has been constructed. There is no construction of road and the fencing has not caused any disturbance to the existing sand dunes located in the project site,” JSW added.
On the other hand, the The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday expressed deep concern at the alleged police repression against farmers in Birbhum in West Bengal and Dhinkia in Odisha, who, they said were protesting the land acquisition for coal mining and industry, respectively, without due process.
