Bhubaneswar: Upset over their defeat in the recent panchayat polls in Odisha, some contestants expressed their frustration by digging village road or by demanding the refund of the bribe paid to some voters.
A Sarpanch candidate of Gangabada panchayat in Rayagada block of Gajapati district has allegedly dug up the road connecting five villages in the panchayat. He also blocked the road with large stones.
The candidate was identified as Barik Sabar. After being defeated by former sarpanch Haribandhu Karji, the supporters of Sabar had also uprooted the street lights installed by the government in the area.
In an audio going viral on social media, another defeated candidate was heard demanding the refund of the amount he had paid for liquor for bribing the voters.
