Bhubaneswar: Bharatpur police under Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) have detained one person in connection with the alleged rape of an aspiring starlet during the shooting of a video film in the outskirts of the Capital city.
While the police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the prime accused in the case, with the help of the scientific team it has seized a towel, a pillow, police uniform, and other incriminating evidence from the crime spot-a rented house where the alleged rape was committed.
Meanwhile, the police have recorded the statement of the 16-year-old victim under section 161 of the CrPC and have got a medical examination conducted on her.
The 16-year-old girl from Banpur was offered the female lead role in a video film by two junior artists Suraj Samal and Vishnu.
The culprits allegedly tied the upper and lower limbs of the aspiring actress for the enactment of a kidnap scene after which the male lead of the film raped her repeatedly for the whole night on March 3.
The victim has alleged that the culprits have also recorded the video of the sexual assault.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the State Commission for Women (SCW) Minati Behera today visited the Bharatpur police station and discussed the case with the investigating officer (IO) of the case. She has also spoken with the victim.
Behera has informed that police have detained some persons connected with the crime and has assured that the prime accused will be arrested soon.
