Bhubaneswar: Criminal antecedent check of security personnel engaged by liquor bar owners from the concerned Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has been made mandatory by the Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.
Bar owners can hire security personnel from private security agencies. They have to inform the local police station about the security personnel engaged by them, said an official press release.
These security personnel shall come under the purview of general law.
Bar owners where ever needed can inform about these security personnel by dialling 112.
Under no circumstances, can these security personnels violate the fundamental rights of the customers.
The order shall remain in effect from March 11 to May 9 of this year.
The aforementioned measure has been taken as it has come to the notice of the government that liquor bars in the area coming under the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate Police have been engaging private security personnel/bouncers. In the recent past, several cases have been registered against these security personnel.
Further, it is apprehended that there is threat to the life of the customers and social amity from these bouncers.
