Jajpur: In wake of the death of a person in a bomb-hurling incident at Maneiganda sand quarry near Kharasrota river in Jajpur district, SP Rahul PR has suspended a Sub Inspector for dereliction of duty.
Sub Inspector Kanduri Das of Binjharpur Police Station has been suspended following the protest by villagers of Kalyanpur demanding arrest of the culprits and compensation to the family of deceased Surendra Das.
Reportedly, Surendra had also been attacked earlier by the sand mafia. A complaint in this regard had been lodged earlier at Binjharpur Police Station but no action was taken on it.
Yesterday, a bomb was hurled over Surendra again yesterday following a group clash over sand mining. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
A case in this regard was registered at Binjharpur Police Station yesterday. Later in the evening, SP Rahul PR visited Binjharpur. Meanwhile, six persons have been detained and subjected to interrogation.
