Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested Swaraj Biswal, the principal accused in the gang rape of a minor aspiring Odia starlet at Bharatpur on the outskirts of the Capital city.
“Special Squad and Bharatpur police have arrested Swaraj Biswal, the principal accused in the Bharatpur minor gang rape case from Khordha today. He will be forwarded to court,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Dash here today.
Briefing reporters, Dash said that Biswal was on the run after he came to know about the filing of the FIR in case he had moved out of the State.
“He had moved around in seven States and after a long time by changing his appearance had taken a house on rent at Khordha and was staying there. He was arrested after police came to know about it,” he added.
The DCP said that on March 4, a gang rape case was registered at Bharatpur police station.
“The accused persons had lured the victim on the pretext that she would be acting in a youtube video film that had a kidnapping scene. Then they had raped her in turns,” the DCP stated.
He said that during the course of the investigation the first accused Bishnu Charan Behera was arrested and forwarded to court.
