Kendrapara: Activists of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangh (NKSS) have allegedly heckled and assaulted Pattamundai tahasildar Dilip Sethi in his office chamber today.
Pattamundai Police have detained NKSS district coordinator Dolagovinda Sahoo and one farmer Udayabhanu Sahoo in this connection.
According to reports, villagers of Kaniapala village had three days back complained to tahasildar Sethi about the existence of an illegal brick kiln near their homes and farmland which was causing extensive damage to the vegetable crops grown by them due to the intense heat generated from the brick kiln. They had demanded shutting down of the brick kiln which was operating illegally in the area.
Sethi had reportedly promised to look into the matter and resolve the matter. However, he didn’t act on the matter which caused immense resentment among the farmers.
In the afternoon today, Dolagovinda and Udayabhanu barged into Sethi’s chamber at the Pattamundai tahasil office.
They allegedly dragged Sethi from his chair and thrashed him.
The duo allegedly kicked and slapped the tahasildar and locked him in his office chamber from outside.
On being informed, police rescued Sethi and have detained Dolagovinda and Udayabhanu.
