Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have unearthed assets worth over Rs 2.76 crore belonging to Kartikeshwar Roul, Assistant Engineer, Minor Irrigation, Bhanjanagar and his family members during simultaneous searches at six places in Khordha and Ganjam districts.
The searches were conducted following an allegation of possession of disproportionate assets to his known sources of income.
Six teams of the Vigilance led by 5 DSsP, 11 Inspectors and other staff conducted the searches at six places in Khordha and Ganjam districts including his office room and residential quarter at Bhanjanagar and native village Langaleswar under Khallikote police limits on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Vigilance during the course of its searches has so far unearthed Rs 2,50,880 in cash, one double-storeyed building at Jagamara in Bhubaneswar; a 3BHK flat in Tusti Residency, Dumuduma, Bhubaneswar; 2BHK flat in Cosmopolis Residency, Dumduma, Bhubaneswar; double-storeyed building at Langaleswar; Fixed deposits and bank and insurance deposits; 7 plots including 2 in prime areas of Bhubaneswar and 5 plots in and around Khallikote town; one Hyundai Creta; 3 two-wheelers, household articles worth over 17.95 lakh; and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 5.72 lakh in the name of Roul and his family members.
The Vigilance has said further searches are underway.
