Koraput: The Special Fast-track Court, Jeypore today sentenced one Subash Bada Nayak (36) to 25 years and six months rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sodomizing a 10-year-old minor boy in 2019.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,500 on Bada Nayak.
Adhoc Additional Sessions judge Pradip Sasmal pronounced the sentence after examining the statements of seven witnesses.
The court further ruled that on default to pay the fine, Bada Nayak has to undergo additional rigorous imprisonment of 16 months.
The court also ordered the district legal services authority to pay Rs 1.5 lakh ex-gratia to the victim on behalf of the State government.
According to the proceedings of the case, Bada Nayak of Ghagdapandi village under Nandapur police station limits had on April 25, 2019, lured the minor boy to a desolate place near the village alongside a canal by promising to offer him Rs 10,000.
Bada Nayak terrorized and thrashed the minor boy before sodomizing him.
The terrified and injured victim groaning in extreme pain somehow managed to escape from the clutches of the violator. On the way, the victim met his father and narrated the ordeal he had gone through.
His father took him to the Government Hospital at Nandapur, however, he was shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital here as his condition was serious.
The victim’s father had lodged a complaint with the Nandapur police station in this regard leading to Bada Nayak’s arrest.
