Bhubaneswar: A major part of Odisha simmered under heatwave conditions as maximum day temperature went as high as 44 degrees Celsius in Jharsuguda, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
While a total of 12 stations in the State recorded maximum temperatures of above 40 degrees, four out of them recorded temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius.
These places are Jharsuguda (44.0), Sonepur (43.9), Bolangir (43.2) and Titilagarh (43.0).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded temperatures of 38.5 and 37.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
The seaside town of Gopalpur remained the coolest with 30.5 degrees Celsius followed by Paradip at 31.9, and Puri at 32.0.
