Mahanga: Police could not conduct crime scene reconstruction in the Mahanga mass murder case today since the accused Shiba Prasad Sahoo took ill and has been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) here.
“He is unwell before we brought him here. He was unable to walk when we took custody of him from jail. We have brought him to the hospital. His legs have gone stiff. There is little improvement in his condition,” informed Cuttack Rural Additional SP Ashok Behera speaking to reporters here.
Crime scene reconstruction can be only done when he is able to walk, Behera added.
Cuttack Rural police had secured three-day remand of Sahoo from the JMFC Salipur on Wednesday.
Sahoo was taken on remand by Mahanga police today.
Sahoo of Kusupur village under Mahanga police limits of Cuttack district on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday hacked to death five members of his elder sibling Alekha Chandra Sahoo’s family. Sahoo apart from killing his brother Alekha had also killed his sister-in-law Rashmi Rekha (Alekha’s wife), niece Smruti Sandhya, and nephews Smruti Sahil and Smruti Saurav.
Sahoo had surrendered before the police at Balichandrapur in Jajpur district. Prior to that, he had released a video in which Sahoo shared the confession.
