Bhubaneswar: Sonepur in Odisha today recorded the highest temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius becoming the State’s hottest town according to the Meteorological Centre here.
The State sizzled with as many as 16 places recording maximum day temperatures of 40 degrees or more.
These places are Balasore (40.0), Angul (41.7), Baripada (42.5), Jharsuguda (42.2), Sambalpur (40.8), Sundargarh (41.5), Talcher (41.8), Bhawanipatna (40.5), Bolangir (42.8), Titilagarh (41.5), Malkangiri (40.0), Sonepur (44.2), Nayagarh (40.5), Boudh (42.0), Chatrapur (40.0), and Paralakhemundi (41.0).
Similarly, the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have recorded maximum day temperatures of 37.7 and 38.4 degrees Celsius.
The seaside town of Gopalpur remained the coolest place with 30.4 degrees Celsius followed by Paradip with 31.8 and Puri with 32.6.
