Bhubaneswar: Locals people at Binika in Sonepur district staged a road blockade following the death of a youth in an accident near Danipali square on Thursday evening.
The youth was knocked down by a speeding motorcyclist while he was returning home from work. The doctor declared him dead at the hospital the same night.
The vehicular movement stopped on Binika-Barpali road due to the protest. The protesters kept the body of the deceased on the road and demanded compensation for the bereaved family members.
Sonepur ADM, Sub-collector, local police IIC and SDPO visited the spot and held discussions with the protestors. The officials assured compensation to the deceased’s family from Red Cross fund and under other schemes following which the blockade was cleared.
