Bhubaneswar: The two cocaine peddlers Ravi Singh and Sunny Kumar arrested with 202 grams of the contraband near Xavier Crossing here on Wednesday by the Special Task Force (STF) had big plans for the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup in 2023.
“According to Ravi, they were preparing a base for cocaine trade in Odisha, during the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup in 2023,” JN Pankaj, DIG, STF.
Pankaj said that a preliminary probe has revealed that Ravi operates from Delhi and the person from whom he procures cocaine is a big fish and is based at the Turkman Gate area in New Delhi.
The DIG further revealed that the STF has moved the court seeking to take Ravi on police remand.
Hearing on the remand prayer will commence after the court reopens, he added.
Pankaj said that Ravi’s associate in Odisha is also from Rajasthan, and runs a small bangle shop in Bhubaneswar.
Ravi and Sunny hail from Naurangpura under Hamirvas police limits in the Churu district of Rajasthan.
