Bhubaneswar: Acclaimed Odia singer Prafulla Kar passed away here on Sunday. He was 83. A very popular and household name, Kar carved a niche for himself in the Odia music industry. He was a musician, singer, lyricist, writer and columnist.
Kar suffered cardiac arrest at around 9 pm and succumbed. The veteran Odia musician had received Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in 2015 for his contribution in the field of arts.
The music fraternity of the State and Odia film industry expressed shock and offered deep condolences over the demise of the veteran.
