Sundergarh: The district police have cracked a blind murder case which was reported from Bargaon area on April 10. An unidentified body, packed in a polythene bag was recovered by the State Highway 10 near Mirchamunda under Bargaon police limits. With sustained efforts and coordination with the police of two neighbouring States, the prime accused was nabbed from Malda district in West Bengal on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police, Sagarika Nath said that the deceased was a truck owner-cum-driver, identified as Akram Rajaq Rayama, who hailed from Gadashisa village in Mandei Tehsil of Kutch district in Gujarat. He was 22. Rayama was brutally murdered by his Helper, who in connivance with two others disposed of the body in Sundergarh and then fled to West Bengal.
Nath said, “Early morning on April 10, our team was informed about an unidentified body lying by the State Highway – 10, at Mirchamunda under Bargaon police limits. On this basis a case was registered under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC, and an investigation began. The prime accused in this case was nabbed from Malda district in West Bengal on Tuesday. The deceased’s truck which stolen by the accused after murdering the former has been seized.”
Akram had come to Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) where he was scheduled to deliver goods and return back to Gujarat. In a bid to steal the truck, the prime accused along with two others murdered him. They dumped the body en route at Sundergarh. “Our cyber team, Bilaspur police, Sundergarh police, and West Bengal police, the accused was identified, traced and arrested. Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bargaon, Sasank Shekhar Beura led the inter-state coordination team and cyber team in investigating this case,” the SP added.
The other two accused have been identified and shall be arrested soon, the police said. The prime accused has criminal antecedents. In a similar modus operandi, he was charged in a case in Himachal Pradesh. “We have information about two other similar cases. The accused used to win the trust of prospective employers and secured petty jobs as helper in trucks. Later, after working for a few months, he used to kill the driver/owner and make way with the vehicle,” said Nath while addressing a presser here today.
