Bhubaneswar: A tea-seller in the city donated Rs 18,350 to Chief Minister Relief Fund on Wednesday. The tea-seller, Sibashankar Jena had volunteered for the clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine in Odisha, when the jabs were newly introduced.
Sibashankar had saved Rs 6,750 which he got as a travel allowance for commuting to hospitals in the city for vaccine trials. “It was a moment of joy for me when I came to know that the trials were successful,” he said.
“I added two months’ profit from business to the amount and donated it to CMRF,” he added. The youth is involved in public service for the last 10 years. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra received the funds and congratulated Sibashankar for the philanthropic act.
