Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today evening inaugurated the State-level Adivasi Mela at the Exhibition Ground here.
In addition to that Patnaik also inaugurated Tribal Haat and the National Tribal Art & Craft Exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that Adivasi Mela is now no longer limited to just being a fair, it is now a tradition. It is the great tradition of our love for tribal culture and for experiencing it.
This Mela provides and creates a good market for things produced by our tribal brothers and sisters, Patnaik added.
Stating that it is a good platform for strengthening the economy of tribal people, the Chief Minister opined, “It is my firm belief that this year goods produced by the tribal people will do good business.”
The State government will continue with its efforts for the welfare and development of the tribal people, he added.
Minister ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Jagannath Sarka also spoke on the occasion.
Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, Development Commissioner Pradip Kumar Jena Departmental Principal Secretary Ranjana Chopra, SCSTRTI Director Akhil Bihari Ota and Departmental Director Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar were present and spoke on Adivasi Mela and tribal crafts.
Adivasi Journal, photo handbooks on Baiga and Koli tribes, ST Population Analysis and SC Population Analysis were released by the guests.
The Mela will continue for 10 days up to 2nd May from 3.30 PM to 9.30 PM.
As the Mela is being organized in a restricted manner, there is no tribal gaon segment.
A total of 187 stalls have been put up for both Adivasi Mela and Tribal Art and Craft Exhibition.
