Bhubaneswar: In a joint operation by STF and Koraput police, an inter-state drug trafficker, Shivnath Singh was arrested from Agra. The accused was on the run since August, 2021 after his name surfaced in a drug haul by Machhakund police.
A native of Agwar Khas under Etmadpur police limits in Agra district, Singh was arrested from his village on April 23 and brought on transit remand to Koraput. He has been booked under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c)/25/29 of the NDPS Act.
Last year in August, the Machhakund police had seized 8 quintals ganja during a raid in which a vehicle was seized and two persons belonging to Uttar Pradesh were arrested. The duo confessed to have been operating on the instructions of Singh.
After collecting sufficient information, a raid was conducted and Singh was apprehended. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Agra (UP) which granted five days transit remand for his production before the Special Judge, Koraput, the STF stated.
