Bhubaneswar: Covid-19 infections may increase in the State after three to four weeks, cautioned Director of Health Services (DHS) Dr Bijay Mohapatra.
Dr Mohapatra made the observation keeping in mind the pattern observed during the last three Covid waves and the current rise in Covid-19 cases in Delhi.
“Though it may be a hypothesis, we have observed in the earlier three Covid waves, infections in Odisha rose 3-4 weeks after cases registered a rise in Delhi,” said Dr Mohapatra.
So therefore there is danger ahead, he added.
The Director of Health Services opined that though there is no positivity there shouldn’t be any kind of complacency.
Covid guidelines like wearing of masks, maintenance of social distancing, avoiding crowds etc need to be adhered to, said Dr Mohapatra.
In view of the apprehension over a rise in the number of infections, the health infrastructure has been kept in readiness, he added.
“The next 3-4 weeks are crucial. Hospitals in the State have been asked to remain in readiness in case infections increase,” Dr Mohapatra informed.
