Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today conducted a one day workshop on “Strengthening Investigation & Prosecution of Trap Cases” in physical and online mode at the State Vigilance Academy here.
The workshop was inaugurated by Chairman Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) and former DGP Abhay. Director Vigilance attended the workshop as the guest of honour.
In his inaugural address, Abhay praised the efforts of the Vigilance organisation for strong action against corruption and for successful detection of high impact cases.
Abhay also enlightened the Vigilance officers to follow the principle of truthfulness in organizing traps.
The Vigilance is currently conducting a “Trap Month”. The focus is on enhancing the use of scientific aids and tools in the investigation of trap cases; completing the investigation of all trap cases registered in 2021 and earlier; redressing grievances of trap victims from whom demand of bribe was made by accused government officials for providing rightful benefits/dues; reimbursement of trap money to trap complainants, and taking strong criminal and departmental action against official and other prosecution witnesses who turn hostile during the trial to help the accused.
This apart, various strategies to ensure foolproof investigation and prosecution of trap cases have been discussed in the workshop and decisions were taken for implementation in the coming days.
All senior officers of the Vigilance organization attended the workshop.
