Puri: A woman fell off from atop the Singhadwar (Lion’s Gate) of Jagannath temple here on Sunday and died.
The woman sustained serious head injuries and was bleeding profusely. She succumbed on the stretch between ‘Aruna Stambha’ and Singhadwar.
Local police deployed at the East gate of the temple shifted the body to Puri district headquarters hospital for autopsy. A case of unnatural death has been registered in this connection.
Reports stated that the woman might have been mentally unstable. The area atop Singhadwar is not easily accessible and also restricted.
Under what circumstances she went there and was the fall accidental or intentional can be ascertained after reviewing the CCTV footage, the police said.
