Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is observing a 12-hour bandh in Deogarh district protesting the arrest of MLA Subash Chandra Panigrahi and demanding action against the Block Development Officer of Tileibani block.
Deogarh MLA Subash Chandra Panigrahi along with his three supporters were arrested on Sunday on charges of assaulting Tileibani BDO Krushnachandra Dalapati.
The district police had set up a special team to investigate the matter after a complaint was filed by Dalapati alleging assault, against Panigrahi and his associates.
Dalapati was on Saturday allegedly assaulted by Panigrahi and his aides at Chhepalipali village. Panigrahi was arrested by Deogarh police from his MLA quarter in the city.
