Bhubaneswar: While Nor’westers or Kalbaishakhi at several places brought the mercury down in coastal areas of Odisha, the western part of the State reeled under heatwave.
As many as 13 places mostly in western Odisha recorded maximum day temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or more.
Five out of these places recorded maximum day temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius or more.
Sonepur and Boudh recorded the highest temperatures of the day with 43.0 degrees Celsius.
The 13 places that recorded temperatures of 40 degrees or more are Jharsuguda (42.0), Sambalpur (41.2), Hirakud (40.6), Bhawanipatna (40.5), Bolangir (42.5), Phulbani (40.7), Titlagarh (42.2), Deogarh (41.2), Nuapada (40.5), Sonepur (43.0), Boudh (43.0), Nayagarh (40.5), and Paralakhemundi (40.0).
