Bhubaneswar: Sambalpur Vigilance Division Inspector Manasi Jena was today caught taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a government official for the closure of his petition.
According to an official press communique, Jena was trapped by the Internal Vigilance unit of Odisha Vigilance while she was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh through a private person Mukesh Sahoo of Bargarh from a government official for closure of his petition.
Following the trap, sleuths of the anti-corruption agency have launched searches at locations connected with Jena and Sahoo.
“We have activated the Internal Vigilance Unit which is operating within the Cell Division of Vigilance Directorate. It is exclusively focused on keeping a watch on the activities of Vigilance Officials. We are committed to taking strong against anyone indulging in corrupt practices,” said Director Vigilance YK Jethwa, in his reaction over the incident.
