Bhubaneswar: On the 67th Foundation Day ceremony of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) at Loka Seva Bhavan, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik virtually inaugurated three iron ore mines of the Corporation located in Keonjhar District and launched two IT modules of the organization under 5T initiative. The Chief Minister also launched the Corporate Anthem of OMC on the occasion.
The foundation day ceremony was attended by Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Minister, Steel, Mines & Works; Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Chief Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Jena, Development Commissioner; Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Steel & Mines-cum-Chairman, OMC and Balwant Singh, MD, OMC.
The operationalization of three iron ore mines namely Banspani, Unchabali and Khandbandh will further strength Govt. of Odisha’s efforts for industrialization in the state.
The IT enabled modules Compliance Management System (CMS) is a robust solution to match OMC’s regulatory, industry specific and internal compliance requirements, while Litigation Management System (LMS) will help the organization to monitor its’ litigations, hearing stages, amounts involved, and relevant documents in real time. These modules will boost the transformational journey of OMC by ensuring transparency and strengthening team work with timeliness.
The orientation program for newly recruited Junior Accountant and Electricians of OMC was held at the occasion. The CM while addressing the gathering lauded the efforts of OMC in achieving 30 million tonne ore production & reaching more than 17,000 crore turnover in FY 2021-22. He also appreciated OMC’s role in propelling the economic growth of the State and contributing immensely in the CSR activities.
Signing of MoUs
Two MoUs were also signed today on the occasion. One is signed with Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan for starting of Odisha Mining Adarsha Vidyalaya (OMAV). As part of OMC’s corporate social responsibility vision these CBSE English medium schools shall be established at five locations adjacent to its’ mines area namely Barbil, Keonjhar, Kalinga Nagar, Rayagada and Rourkela. Students of OMC operational area shall be benefited by this initiative.
The 2nd MOU was signed for a Mining Skill Academy at ITI-Koira, Sundergarh. In order to meet the demand of skilled professionals in mining and allied sector and to upgrade the skills of working personnel for improved productivity, OMC in collaboration with Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Govt of Odisha is going to set up this institute.
On behalf of OMC, Mallick handed over the cheque of Rs 500 crore as dividend to the Chief Minister. Among others, Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary Industries and SDTE, Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Secretary to CM (5T), VK Pandian and senior officials of Government of Odisha & OMC were present on the occasion.
