Rairangpur (Mayurbhanj): A highly decomposed half-burnt body of an unidentified married woman was found lying amid the bushes on the backside of Hembram Narayan High School boundary wall in Dubulabeda village under Rairangpur town police limits in Mayurbhanj district today.
The woman is suspected to have been murdered in a brutal manner, and to destroy evidence, the miscreants burnt the body halfway using chemicals before dumping it.
The body was discovered by cattle grazers, who informed the villagers. Later, Rairangpur police reached the spot along with a scientific team from Baripada.
A case has been registered in this connection at Rairangpur police station and an investigation is underway.
“The deceased woman has not been identified. Since no complaint of a woman going missing in any of the police stations in the Rairangpur subdivision, the identification has become difficult. We have sought information from all police stations in the district. Things will come to light after we get the reports,” said Rairangpur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manoranjan Biswal.
