Bhubaneswar: Infocity Police in Bhubaneswar nabbed two persons from Kolkata and Patna on charges of duping a medical aspirant of Rs 30 lakh on the promise of landing her a seat at a medical college.
The two have been identified as Abhimanyu Kumar Singh alias Amit Banerjee of Bihar and Sugat Chaudhary alias Bikash Ranjan of Kolkata.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh informed that they had been collecting money from medical aspirants for the last 10 years promising them to land a seat at medical colleges. They have also got some students admitted to a few medical colleges.
They had met the complainant under the fake identities of Amit Banerjee and Bikash Ranjan and had assured her of admission to the branch of her choice. However, they absconded after receiving the money.
Based on the girl’s complaint, Infocity Police tracked the two accused and nabbed Amit from Kolkata and Bikash from Patna. Rs 10 lakh has been reportedly recovered from their possession.
