Bhubaneswar: The 62nd All Odisha State Swimming Championship’22 (Junior & Sub- Junior, boys and girls) kick starts at Biju Patnaik Swimming Pool Complex, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar from May 28 to May 30.
This Championship is being organised jointly by the Sports and Youth Services Department of Odisha and the Odisha State Swimming Association under the aegis of the Swimming Federation of India.
Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera shall inaugurate the championship in the evening hours of May 28.
A total of 258 competitors, 181 boys and 71 girls across 20 districts of the state shall compete in Junior and Sub-junior categories in the three-day competitions. Around 50 technical officials shall conduct the competition.
The competition process has been completely digitalised with electronic touchpads where the performance timing and results shall be published automatically and immediately after the players touch the finishing lines.
Free lodging and boarding arrangements have been made for the outstation players.
The best swimmers in each category shall be selected on the basis of their performance and they shall represent the state of Odisha at the ensuing National Aquatic Championship’22 to be held at Rajkot( Sub-Junior) in June and at Bhubaneswar ( Junior) from July 16 to 20.
The Odisha State Swimming Association has expressed its sincere thanks and gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for extending full cooperation and financial support to this tournament that will go a long way in the development, promotion, and expansion of the sport of swimming in Odisha.
