Bhubaneswar: Hearing a petition against the felling of trees for the construction of MLA quarters in Bhubaneswar, the Orissa High Court on Thursday sought a detailed report from the State Government.
The court has directed the Secretary of the General Administration Department to submit an affidavit mentioning a detailed report of the project. The next hearing on the matter has been slated for June 27.
Reportedly, a social activist Jayanti Das had filed a PIL seeking direction to immediately stop the felling of trees for the construction of the MLA quarters. While hundreds of trees have been reportedly cut down for the project more trees are to be felled.
